Since forming the league, the rule regarding pick trading is that you can trade current picks and next year's picks. That would be 2016 or 2017 picks now, and 2017 or 2018 picks after the rookie draft is completed. Would you guys like the option to trade picks even further than that? Should you be allowed to trade a 2020 pick if you want to?
My main concern with this is if someone makes a big move with a lot of picks spread out over several years, and the trade doesn't work out and they quit. It's hard enough to find replacement owners for struggling teams, but if they don't have any firsts for 4 years they probably won't want to take on that project.
Also important to note: you guys are responsible for indicating you have acquired/traded away picks. If you do a trade that involves picks, make sure you mark your roster in a way that tells me which pick(s) you have traded away or received. If you do not do that, there is no guarantee that I will remember and you may end up losing the pick if it goes unnoticed.

I think it's perfect the way it is, maybe allow 2018 picks to be traded during the rookie draft?

If you've been here a full season at the least, future picks should be okay.
If you are in your first season, no way.

2 years in the future max for trading picks. I'd like it if the site itself would keep track of it though.
